Strange Things You Find Online

We all know the internet can be a cesspool! I have to be very careful in my research with my clicks. I joked the other day that I am probably on several watchlists already due to my research. One thing I realized this morning, is that #1 I should be updating this blog a lot more, since I have a ton to say! lol and #2 I find some really weird things when I am not meaning to!

For example, did you know, you can purchase books 'by the foot'? You can even specify specific criteria for what type of aesthetic you would like. By color, by genre and color, by age (vintage and antique and by color).

The prices range from $35.99 to $69.99 for one foot of books, and from $125.99 to $199.99 for three feet.

The Average bookshelf is 36" across and has 4-5 shelves. That is with a good amount of space in between 6 or more if they are stacked close. That means you would need over 15 feet of books to fill approximately three feet of wall space.

That means to fill each bookshelf, you will be paying a minimum of $629.95 for the Shabby collection or $999.95 if you want your iconic pink and purple gradient mix.

That isn't counting the price of the bookshelf, which can range anywhere from $159.99 for a cheap, but decent Saunder Bookshelf from Amazon to $1,209 for an Amish Solid Wood one.

Looking at the width needed to make a decent backdrop, unless you are going to do a very up close and personal view, you are going to need 3-4 bookshelves.

So, to achieve that shabby chic, I'm smart even though my office smells like mold and stale air with more germs that a Chinese lab vibe, it is going to cost you over $3,000. However, if you are going for the look, I'm Elle Woods, even though my office smells like mold and stale air with more germs than a Chinese lab vibe, it is going to cost you closer to $5,000.

While this is an interesting concept, it seems a little ridiculous to me to go to that much effort. If you want a bookshelf, make it books that mean something. Books you have collected over the years. Go to local charity shops and support them. Or just spend $35.00 and buy a Vintage Bookshelf Backdrop from Amazon.

I will note, I did find one decent thing while exploring this site and wasting more than an hour this morning. Boxed Children's Books Now, this is a great idea! A huge box of children's books. When I say huge, it is 18"x12"x12". That is a lot of books. It cost around $45. For the same price as 3-4 books on Amazon, you can get a whole box. They might be used, but kids, especially young ones, are going to tear them up anyway. Then go through, pick the ones you want and donate what you don't to a local women's shelter, daycare, library, teacher, so many options.

I know this is completed unrelated to anything court or crime...but it was a weird thing I learned along the way that may pop up sometime in the future. And when you say, 'How do you know this crap?' I can refer you back to this blog and say, "Rabbit Holes my friend, Rabbit Holes!"

XOXO
